Farsi by Robab Moheb„To face the question: situation, hierarchy,.To ask means to know and not to know.“ Ulf Karl Olov Nilsson writes o „SOND“, by Ida Börjel: „and indeed it seems to me that the first book by Ida Börjel euquals two books; she opposes one matter with another one. Seeking for its counterpart, makes quotations, makes statements, poses questions, and piece by piece, she presents to us, the segments of abrupt cognition and emotions both versus internal and external… There are two main arguments which let us believe that this book is a contradicting scientific project. First: poetry as exploration, reflection and investigation of poetry itself and as methodology, because one can only explore and find something which has itself already found to its own place. Second: poetry is liberation, and clearing as well. And writing poetry is a way to return a fragment of secrets and oblivion, embedded in the form of language. And these are the two types of science.„ Ida Börjel, born 1975 in the city Lund in Sweden, realized her literary debut with “SOND”, published 2004 by OEI editor in 96 pages. Particularly her innovative language and humanistic view of the poet on world around her both from an ontological and existential point of view made impression on the literature community. Her pen on paper is razor-sharp. Swedish traditions, the European, the educational system, the health system, people, her mother, herself, her existence and her own name, all are subject to her cynicism. But her cynicism is under one’s breath: quit and slow. “SOND” projects aspects of life as anxiety, paranoia, beauty, bitterness and seclusion, science, a synchronous act of opening and closing, mistrust, lack of self-consciousness. Her language is simple but this does not attenuate meaning and momentousness. Ida is a curious child instantaneously attacking her own milieu with questions. Börjel is not only in agony with the world, with life, moreover she is in agony with the language and challenges indefatigable the limits and limitations of Swedish language. She breaks through limitations by deconstructing but not destructing language and the relation to readers. The elements of her language are all in balance: Commas, exclamations, dashes, points, symbols, signs on one side and verbs, nouns, adjectives, pronouns, adjectives etc on the other side. However, Börjel sees surface and profoundness as a nexus, she quotes Hugo von Hofmannsthal “the deep coats itself. Where? On the surface?” a question that inspires. Two further poetry books by Ida Börjel have been already published by OEI editor. Her second book “Radio Skane” is a collection of long monologues about solitude and death, the elderly… broadcasted by Radio Skane (the southern region of Sweden). The latest book of Ida Börjel “The law of purchase and consume: the rights of poem” has been published in spring 2008. pages 104, 6.14" x 9.21", perfect binding, white interior paper (55# weight), black and white interior ink, white exterior paper (90# weight), full-color exterior ink |
